Default New Windshield - First Test

I haven't ridden a bike with out some sort of shield in a long time. After my first long ride on the new Dyna this weekend exceeding 75 MPH I decided that holding on for deal life was not so much fun. My fingers actually started going numb. (Yeah I'm a whimp). So I went to the HD dealer and purchased a Super Sport Detachable shield for about 300.00. The part number, which is no where on the HD web site is 57300-6. Of course there were no instructions but I was able to get it assembled and on fairly quickly.

So far all I can say is, what a difference. The shield does not impair my vision as it is about 2 inches below my eye level and there is no buffeting on the helmet. It looks pretty good and not as imposing as the other shields with the vertical and horizontal bars. Best of all it comes off in seconds and leave no hardware behind.

The closest image I could find is attached. It's close but not exact.

I know this is an old post, but no buffeting? really? I am 5 foot 6 inches, I am struggling with the buffeting on my FXD. So far..no real solution, except riding downwind all the time which is not possible here in western texas....

Karl, have you played with the height of the shield? On my 07 FXDB with the QD Compact Shield I can slide it about 1-1/2" from clamps all the way on the lower tree to upper clamps hitting the upper tree. That wasn't enough so I cut 2" off the shield and run it all the way down. Last Sun, just to check, I raised it 1/2 way - bounced the crap out of my helmet at 65.

Dunno if that's an option for you - my gf's 2000 FXDL with the same shield (for that year) has the clamps so far apart that there's no room to adjust - lower clamp is right on lower tree and upper on upper.
