Anyone else have a loud fuel pump, and if so does it need to be changed. My 06 ST Bob has a very loud high pitched whistle that seems to be coming from fuel pump.
My Softail Standard did that for all 23,000 miles I owned it and never had any issues. That being said, I don't think it's normal as all the bikes I've had after that (including the Wide Glide) aren't noisy at all.
I installed a new fuel pump this past winter when I swapped out the tins. Over the summer, I had a problem with the bike and put the old pump back in. The bike has never ran better - but the old (good) pump is exactly what you describe. I'm leaving it as-is until it leaves me stranded, but it's got 15k miles on it so far...
Mine does the same thing. 09 Super Glide. Started at about 1300 miles. Of course I was told that it is normal. A little over 3500 miles and still doing it. It is annoying when I wear my FF in cold weather as I notice it more.
