Agree, I just changed (this weekend) the fork oil to Heavy not the race oil and it is a night and day difference. I tip the scale at 190, and the front end is nice and firm. Look!!!! it even changed the color of the lowers when I changed the oil?[IMG] [/IMG]
Mine was mushy and loose and bottomed out as well.
Had the shop re-pack and re-torque, now it's nice and stiff.
Rides and handles alot better however i do feel more of the bumps in the road.
Still a better trade off, handles so much better i'll take the extra bumps in the road.
When you ride you can tell how high the front shocks ride up the fork by, don't know what to call it- the film/resido/rub mark on the fork. It looks to me after the work was completed as though the front end is sitting up higher and i know the shocks are not traveling as high on the forks. I'm glad i had it done, cost- $0, it was done as warrenty work.

My 98 WG was mush too. I installed Progress Suspension Cruise Control front springs (and the 1" lowering kit) and SE fork oil. Now, if anything, it's too stiff but I prefer that to too mushy. Hit a good size bump at speed on this thing and it'll jar your teeth loose. My advice? Make your changes in stages rather than changing springs and oil at the same time. Then you'll better understand the exact effect of each change.
