There is NOTHING soft about a softail. My superglide will out corner, out run, and rides smoother than my buddy's softail. Just makes it more fun to ride. Saving a few $$$ was just icing on the cake.
Its all about personal preference. As mentioned a few times already just test ride the bikes you are interested in and go with what you like. I test rode the following in this order and made my decision:
2010 Crossbones - Cool looking, decent ride but not my style.
2010 Fat Boy Lo - Nice bike (more of an old man cruiser IMO), was disappointed in the rough ride.(well rougher than i expected)
2010 Victory Hammer - good power but too stretched out for me and its not a HD. Loved the 240 back tire though.
2010 Street Glide - Maybe 20 years from now but too much plastic on a bike for me at this point. Just a personal preference.
2010 V-Rod Muscle - Long story short I'm just not that aggressive and thespeed of this bike would be wasted (I'm more of an aggressive cruiser at best) 2010 Fat Bob - The aggressive cruiser I was looking for SOLD.
From The Online Slang Dictionary ... poser ... posˇer noun /ˈpōzər/ a person who pretends to be a member of a group that they are not actually a member of; "wannabe".
From Wikipedia ... Softail ... "On Softail motorcycles, the shock absorbers or springs are often hidden underneath out of view to give the appearance of a hard-tail or rigid frame"
Wouldn't that make Softails poser bikes?
Wear your shocks proudly. Ride a Dyna.

I think one of the biggest downfalls about dynas is the rubber mounted engine. Yeah, yeah, i know that you get a couple more hp's out of it compared to the softail (due to the counterbalancers) but there is a much larger gap between the frame and the engine on the dynas compared to the softails. I like the way the frame on the softails is "tighter" around the engine...just MHO though, not bashing Dynas
I do want to ride the new FLD and a FatBob.
(If they ever have them in demo-rides around here)
I like the looks of both. Obviously, the FB is the tougher looking
of the two (out of the box) -- Lose the two headlights though.
The std issue Heritage/Fatboy headlight would look good (or a 6"
if that is avai)
duh, sons of anarchy ride dynas. Just kiddin ive had a 93 fatboy and a 2000 standard. The twin cam was a great riding smooth bike which id probably still have but some yuppy just had to have it in 01 when harleys where hot. Currently riding a 02 wg and its a great riding fun bike but id trade it for for my old 78 fxs tomorrow. Like everyone else says ride em then decide.
