That was the first thing (Mod) I did to my FB... Fish line did the trick. I too had one that was barely hanging on... Oh, another thing I did along a similar line (before getting snap ring pliers) was to moderately straighten out a couple of fish hooks (line still on them) and pulled them to open up the very small snap rings on my hand controls. I know, I know...pretty ghetto bit it worked on that particular project. I now have a good set of snap ring pliers.
I used a blow dryer and my thumb!!! I heated it up and pulled the reflector off with my hands. With the residue I heated up and rolled it up into a ball with my thumb and pulled it off. The little residue that was left I waxed it right off. This was before I knew about the WD40 trick.
Walmart sells a product called goop off, it loosens any type of adhesive , start at the top and pour a small amount at the top of the reflector on the backing and wait about 5 min, gently pull at the top of the reflector to start the loosening process, repeat applying the process until you reach the bottom, and it also work's to remove the one's on the back fender, just be careful on the fender, any residue left can be wiped right off with the solvent, that's how I removed mine!!!!!!!!
I use 'fishing line' to remove them, and then use regular old WD40 to remove any left over gunk.
I tried the fishing line trick, but found it easier to just lift the corner up and peel it back, sprayed WD-40 in let it soak for a few minutes and the reflectors just about fell off. You could also try Zippo lighter fluid if WD-40 is not available.
lol.. i just removed 4 reflectors from a fatboy like 30 minutes ago.
WD40 for the front worked awesome after pulling them off.
I used carb cleaner for the rear.. but it was on chrome not paint.
then cleaned with windex....and washed my hands.
then checked and the old lady was asleep.
so I recommend gettin laid first, and then reflect on that while removing your reflectors :P
