Ok this will prob be a stupid question but I see alot of people talking about Tranny fluid. Is this different than the primary fluid? Of so where is the plug for the tranny and where do I change and fill the fluid at on a 1998 Dyna Lowrider?
Dude...go buy a service manual for the bike before you work on it (try ebay or Zanotti's HD on the web) . The trans, primary & engine all take seperate oil. Just use gear oil in the trans.
i am curious, the hd service manual says formula x..just wondering why others here do not use it ?? don't get me wrong,i am open minded here for sure . i am no pro on this topic, that is for sure .
Formula x is not a bad product. But, like most everything else at the dealership, there are better and cheaper options available eslewhere. Mobile 1 gear oil, Red Line shock proof, synthetic trans lube, etc. Do a search.

The dealer doesn't want you to use anything but Harley.
Get yourself a manual. You are gonna need it eventully.
I use Mobile V-Twin for the engine and primary. Mobile synthetic 75/90 gear oil in the trans.
Harley has a synthetic Syn 3. I don't like it and my Low Rider hates it. Got noisy as h*ll.
