Default no belt guard

a few days ago i swapped my street bob's chrome belt guard for my buddy's wrinkle black. when i had mine off i was looking at the bike and kind of liked the way it looked with no belt guard on there. in my opinion a cleaner, more open look.

my question - any disadvantages to running without the belt guard?

Supposed to keep debris out of the belt and your passengers pants/laces.

I took mine off when I first got it. If you like it, do it.

Oh and it looks MUCH better IMHO.

It does look good. It doesn't seem like it would really keep debris out, but I can see the passenger clothing issue. Then again, I have no intention of losing my Mustang solo seat.

thanks for the input...ditching the belt guard all together is probably the direction i'm heading..

she can bitch all she wants but all she's getting is a pillion pad for rides to the beach..so the 2up riding issue won't really be a problem

Friend of mine took the guard off his new Buell. Same day he picked up a sharp stone, wrecked the belt and pulleys. It is there for a very good reason. I have three belt drive bikes and they each have their guards firmly in place!

Only disadvantage Ive found so far is the pully ground off the back of my Lick's Solo Bag, unbeknownst to me. Pulled the bag off and the back was ground off past the stitching. Never knew it.
