Greetings...
I am new here, having just purchased a 2005 Low Rider. I am going to change out the seat to save my, and my wife's, butt. Does anyone have any feedback on the HD Sundowner or Mustang Wide Vintage on this bike?
markian
I can't speak for the HD seat but I have a Mustang Solo with the removable passenger pad on my '03 Low Rider. I love the rider saddle. Night and day better than the stock seat, which I hated with passion (especially after doin 500 mi in a day, 1000 in 3) and the solo backrest is a really nice addition. My wife and I can do 200 in a day no problem (she's kind of a wimp, though but don't tell her I said that )
I have the HD Sundowner seat with a sissybar and backrest on my 03 lowrider. Got it more for the wife then for me. It sits a little higher then the stock seat which was fine for me. The wife has a much bigger seat now and she loves it. Actually asks to go riding on weekdays a couple times a week.
Thanks Helo...
Is that a wide vintage or vintage saddle you have?
It's a wide vintage part number 79129 with passenger pad number 79139. You will need a different number for your bike as it is '04 or newer, part is 79348 for the seat, the pad is the same.
thanks helo & dynamac...
I am picking up the bike in about 10 days...I had to wait because I just had surgery and have been told to stay off the beasts until then. I figure it's a good time to get info on aftermarket changes.
I have the HD Sundowner on my '05 Custom and it is excellent. At first, compared to stock, the seat looks a bit wide, but the reality is that it gives the bike more of a 'touring' look. Comfort is a 10 without question. I have chrome covers for the batter, electrical, and coil... and the width of the seat (6" more than stock) covers the top of these, but it still looks great. I wouldn't trade it for anything. Buy it at Chicago Harley.... $297.00 free shipping and no tax. You will need to wait a few weeks to get it, though.
Thanks Helo...

I like the looks of that seat. I did a 150 mile trip on the factory seat on my Super and it was bearable, but I was wishing that I had a big solo seat. I know if I regularly do rides longer than 150, I will be needing to get a seat.

Did you buy yours direct from Mustang?
Mikeeeeeeee
I rode it to Sturgis in '03 from Great Falls, MT in a day. Almost exactly 500 miles. Took 2 250 mile day rides from there. All this on the soory excuse for a seat that cam from the factory. Could harly walk after all that. Guy I was riding with bought the same seat for his superglide and I tried it out. Bought one from the vendor there in Sturgis before I rode home. They shipped my factory seat home for free. It's still in the shipping box almost 2 years later. Planning on putting it the real test next month. ~4500 miles in 3 weeks is the plan . I'll get a pic up if any are interested.
