Default Added Power Outlets

I installed a dual out on my Project Tour Bob this weekend. I picked up the outlet at a local auto parts store. It's only rated for 15 watts. That should handle my battery maintainer and heated gloves. I cut the clips off it it and attached the plug for the outlet. There is a always hot wire under the seat to connect to. I hooked the ground directly to the battery. Total cost was less than $15. Now I need a plug in for my heated gloves. I need a higher watt one for my heated vest. It looks like there is enough room in the upper left corner of the cover for an outlet.

Sweet. I love anything touring. Is that a GIVI case on the back of that bob? If so, that's the first time I've ever seen one on a Harley. Nice work!

Not a Givi. It's a Coocase sold by Twisted Throttle. I have a Givi on my V-Strom. The Coocase quality and build compares with the Givi, but at a lower cost. The case is 48 liters, with liner, lights, and alarm with a remote. The case with backrest was $340 with shipping free. Got it about a month ago and posted pictures in my Coocase Thread and in my album.

I just did the "Where Have You Been Thread" and now have a picture that is not too big of a file to post as my signature pic.

Cool, I used to have a V-Strom too. Which one do you have? I bought lots of stuff for it and an FZ1 from Twisted Throttle. I met the guy that runs that site at a V-Strom rally at the Dragon's tail. Did you ever go to that rally?

I bought an '04 650 after I sold my KLR. The KLR took me to Prudhoe Bay and back. It was a great bike for the trip. But I wanted a more street dual sport. I am planning a Canadian trip to Newfoundland for the Weestrom. Here in NE Oklahoma near Arkansas I'm close to lots of twisty county roads and gravel roads to explore on the Wee. I havn't made to the Dragon. But it's on my list.

Cool. I had a 1000, but I really think the 650 is the better bike. Mine never ran right, and a stator failure 400 miles from home was the last straw. I got it home, fixed it and sold it. Owned it barely a year, and there are things I miss about it, but my Harley so far has been a much better bike mechanically, despite what all my asian bike riding friends say.

I don't regret the switch, but I do miss some things about the big Vee. I had a set of 20mm ammo cans powder coated and I lined the insides with felt, and man those made the best sidecases ever.

I saw a VW solar panel for sale, those that attach to lighter to keep battery juiced, Could that work on your bike as "battery tender'?

Was the solar panel small enough to fasten to the top of my Coocase?

Just kidding!!!

I just wanted an easy way to connect the battery tender instead of having to remove the battery cover. The tour case is wired to the bike and has an alarm that uses a small amount of battery juice. The Coocase is mounted on a quick detach and the wires unplug under the seat. It doesn't stay on all the time.
If the bike is not in use for a lengthy period of time the tender is required if the case is attached.
I use battery tenders on my 3 bikes, 4 wheeler, and mower during the winter.

You did have some heavy duty cases on your Strom. When I bought my Wee it already had Givis. The side cases are small ones. I added heated grips, the 1000's hand guards, and bigger shield.
