Is it common......
to have even HD riders confuse a FXD for a sportster? I'm not new to riding, but new to HD, and I'm amazed at the number of people who come up and say 'nice sporty'. I don't care, but it's kind of weird.
Saw another dyna rider with a sticker on his helmet that said 'Sit back and open wide, this ain't no sporty, it's a superglide'. Is this an old HD joke?

I suppose some can just glance at the front end and make an uneducated guess then come up with that conclusion. Especialy the pre '06 models with the thinner forks and the eyebrow mounted head light.

my neighbor thought mine was a Sporstser. I think to the non-Harley enthusiast they just don't know. They probably just know the terms Sporster, FatBoy, RaodKing and not much beyond that.
