Default Cams upgrade on 96"

Ride: 2009 FXDC
Motor: 96", Stage I upgrade with PCv, python 2-1, AN BS Air Filter.
77hp & 92lbs TQ

I'm planning to get more power out of the stock motor but dont wanna go more than 96" and wanna be within a reasonable budget.
Can someone pls tell me what cam should I go for? I've heard terms like SE255, Andrews 37s, 510s.
Which one is the best one for a stock motor that already has a stage I on it.
Is it enough if I just change the cams or should I couple that with anything?
Any info would be appreciated

It depends on how you like to ride and if you plan on doing anything else in the future, I ride solo a lot and planned on headwork so I went with the Andrews 37's, they're workin fine for now but the heads are still coming off soon. The 26's would be a better choice for a no headwork build. A 30T pulley with that would also really wake things up.

If you only plan cams and no boring/headwork, then the SE 255 is a great cam. It will give you more low end torque up to about 4000 rpm, then it drops off. I have an '07 Ultra, stage 1. Put the cams in and gained 9-10 ft/lbs and same on HP. I did have a dyno tune at the same time, so I'm sure that helped. You should be able to get it done for about $1,000 or less if you do the work yourself.

I think a general rule of thumb, would be about $100/hp gain up to 15. Beyond that it gets more expensive to realize gain.

The other cams mentioned are great if you plan to do more work, but if only cams in your future, you can't beat the SE 255. Check out the SE 255 threads or the "cam update" thread by "iclick". I think he has instructions on DIY for the cams.

Default Cams

When you are considering cams you need to decide where you want the power band. I added 26h cams to my 07 dresser & love them. I have a 02 Wideglide that I will eventually add cams to also. The 26 cams pull from around 1800 to around 5200. The 37s will start later but pull longer.
You may also want to take into consideration the compression and the effect cams have there.
Another point someone else made is tuning....add the cams but you'll need to retune both a/f and (especially) timing if you want to maximize your build's potential.

you can do much better than SE cams. Aftermarket cams offer yo a much better selection. For your bike I think an Andrews 26 should do it.

Call Andrews, Bob Wood & T-man...ask what they suggest for your likings & future plans (be honest with yourself)! After talking with these 3 guys you will have a better understanding of why you need a certain set of cams & how they work with what you've got exactly. Then you can make a good decision...but ya more to be had other than SE!

To complement new cams, you should have your heads ported, etc. That opens up a new thread...lol Tmanperformace in NC does a 'street' port for $650. I know bigboyz in the northeast prices start at $299 or $399...

That's one of the issues I'm having. I don't have the money to get the heads done so the cams just sit on the nightstand...beckoning me.
