Was at the West Marine store in Fife this afternoon and ended up buying a Dual marine audio setup with a Jensen weather guard to keep the rain off it ... will post up the specs in a few ... and some pics as soon as I get it together (or in progress ... as I get around to it) ....

not so sure about the dual head units, never been a fan in the auto world but their marine stuff may be just fine for the bike, i am pretty sure all over polk audio's stuff is okay for marine use, at least the momo stuff was we put 3 sets of components in a car we did and they sound great, heres some pictures of the install if you care... not trying to hi jack the thread at all

oh and i dont see why you couldnt get a smaller 2 channel amp for your coax for a decent price, as long as you can keep it dry and it doesnt overheat you should be fine, ive never really looked into anything for a bike, but i know the amps made for them can break the bank pretty easily

Wow ... in my haste I picked up something of an anemic unit ... no great shakes, but I am pretty confident it'll serve the purpose for a while ....

The speakers are Dual DMP66 4 ohm max 60 watt peak power 6.5" units ...

The head unit is a Dual MXD662B AM/FM/CD/MP3/USB with 3.5mm jack to accept iPod (type) external Aux inputs ... 17 Watts Root Mean Square (RMS) x 4 channels at 4 ohms (60-watt peak) ....

Hopefully it'll overcome my pipes and wind noise whilst tooling down the freeway ... else I'll need to get a power amp and new speakers perhaps ....

I can just see me in another year or two with 10x the setup ... woofers in my saddlebags ...

Oh well ... it's a start ... will have a road test within a couple of days or so hopefully ... stay tuned ....

Well ... finally got it together this evening ....

What a major P I T A ...! I went over to Cartoys and asked them how much they'd charge to install it and they quoted me $190!!! I said "Screw it ... I'll do it myself ...."

Took a little doing ... almost made me wish I'd just paid them to do it ... J/K ....

A couple of photos attached ....

As I suspected, not the most sound I've heard from a set of speakers ... will give it a test run on the freeway tomorrow and see what she'll do ....

Man you guys keep posting these mods up and I'm gonna have to get me a batwing for my bike.

Looks good!

Does it handle any different with the additional weight?

Thanks for the kudos for those who sounded off with some positive feedback ...

Joe ... Your brackets should be there pretty soon ... I sent to you at PowderPro address ....

Super ... the additional weight is negligible ... maybe 5 or 10 pounds tops ... it's streamlined, so probably less 'drag' than a conventional windshield .... The biggest difference in handling I have found has been the increased stability from having a greater contact area from the beefier front wheel ....

Got a photo from the front below ....

The only other thing I had to do was to change the bracket attachment settings to tilt the fairing slightly forward ... the inner fairing interfered with my apes ... so rolled it forward a bit ... it actually slightly raises the windshield height and the coverage of my hands from the 'batwing' ....

Had it out on the freeway today at speeds up to about 85 (er ... I mean the legal speed limit) and could hear it okay when cranked up to about '40' to '42' ... when it goes above 45 seems to decrease the sound quality a little and not add much as far as volume ... I should probably start thinking about what power amp I should buy to give it a boost in a few months ... ....

Everything checks out 'SAT' as far as the install job ....
