Part (hopefully it's just part ... to be determined) of my 'winter mods' is installing the inner fairing I just picked up today for $9.00 ( ... yeah, that's right ... $9.00) ... but, as you can see, it is woefully lacking in about three areas ...
I saw a Jensen MP6312 at Cartoys for $119 and am thinking of going that way with some Polk Audio DB651 6.5-Inch Coaxial Speakers ... think I could get that setup for about $150 ....
well those answers do no good at all for you...
i would highly sugest using a marine grade CD player with playback memory for when you hit a bump (so it will not skip) be sure it has a audio in for a I pod jack... on speakers... i am going with a set of component speakers in the fairing on mine... a nice full range 6x9 set up would be nice as well... but to answer your question... you can get the component set up for under 150 for the speakers, and even a decent set of 6x9...
I buy ALOT from www.sonicelectronics.com
check this out http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...-GF1622X-.html
it is a sony with MP3 and all the gizmos plus free speakers, but they are only 2 way
this head unit would prob work pretty well, it has the anti shock on it and is 50x4, however the RMS on it is only 17x4... this is fairly common for a head unit though, that is why i will run amps and i pod docking rather than head units on mine http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...al+MXDM51.html
ooh ya, and HOW THE HELL DID YOU GET THAT FOR $9!!!???
Thanks for the tips Joe ...
I got my fairing from Tsukayu (a chinese company or hong kong maybe) ... the dude in Everett WA who used to warehouse fairings for them stateside had some inner fairings laying around that they didn't want returned ... cost him nothing so he passed the savings on to me ... he asked me for $7.00 so he could buy a blue plate special for lunch ... I had $9.00 in my pocket and decided at that price I could afford to be generous ...
I don't really want to drill out the fairing to go with 6x9s ... I think I could get some decent sound with 6 1/2" co-axial speakers ....
I saw that same Jensen MP6312 in the Deadcenter fairing they have on display at Destination H-D in Tacoma ... I didn't see what speakers they were using ....
I guess one of my questions is ... is there a compact amp I can use that won't triple the cost of the initial head unit/speaker setup ...?
