Default RE: 95 or 98 ci kit

Thanks MUD.

I spoke to my dealer and to mostly perserve my 7yr warrenty they will only do the Stage 2 usingall harley parts.

They will charge me the difference between the stock part and the upgraded harley part if something goes wrong as long as I do all the services there, which I was planning on doing anyway.

They think if I do the stage 2 without Screaming eagle heads I will not need the SE tuner and my Vance and Hines Fuel pak will be good enough. I am still trying to get opinions on that. And someone suggested getting adjustable rods and getting it dynoed and Harly said they had Harley adjustable rods and they would get it dynoed for me as part of the total cost. They are talking about $2200 but will send me a quote tomorrow.

With my Vance and Hines big shots staggered and Screaming eagle air filter and the stage 2 with harley parts they are saying they think I will end up with about 90HP. Is that believable with the Harley parts and just my fuel pak?

Somebody said get good a cam. And Harley said theirs were okay but not the best. Maybe I could get them to put in another brand of Cam but if anything happened to it they would not cover any of the cost of the cam but might call the labor warrenty. I am trying to figure out what the difference in Horse Power would be between the good Cam and the HD camand what my exposure would be in initial cost and of course replacement cost if it broke. Would the good cam add another 3 horsepower?

I will probably take the bike in this weekend so by Friday I hope to have all the info I need to make the bestdecisions.

I will keep you updated as I go. I get there quote tomorrow when I get home from work on my fax machine so I should have more specifics. But some of you probably already know what harley parts he should offer me or if there are choices. As I mentioned the only thing I know of so far was the adjustable rods, and I mentioned that to them. And they agreed it would be good for getting the most out of the Dyno tune up. I heard the ingnition timing is part of the dyno tune and therefore I would need the SE tuner even if Im not getting the new head. How much difference in HP will the SE tuner make? Should I demand it?

Thanks for you help guys.

Mentor, WOW, it sounds mean.

I'm sure you read my prior post and it looks like I have to stay with Harley stuff to keep most of my warrenty intact.
I hope I will still end up at about 90 Horse power and not give up more than 2 or three Hoursepower using their stuff for the stage 2 (without head). I am already giving up about 10hp they said by not changing the head, If I did that they said they could get me about 100 HP with their parts. but the head would not be covered and that was about a $1,000 part. He was talking about $3,500 with the head and $2,200 without it. Well I'll post the quote and any specifcs they give me tomorrow night.
I'm getting pretty excited, LOL.

My bike is out of factory 2yr warrenty, but I have about 9 months left on the extented warrenty.

I am a auto teck by trade so having a warrenty dosnt mean much to me, I have purchased most of the HD tools in the service manual.

I wouldnt want another person working on this bike!

But I understand that alot of people need to rely on the warrenty for various reason.
It took me awhile to muster up the ***** to start terring into my NEW bike! its tough!

you could do a GD cam setup and the dealer would probably be OK with it, Hell it would arguably be the most reliablepart in the set up!

But hey, just have fun!

Mentor,

It's definately a plus when you now how to do it. I would probably buy the parts do the work and then break other stuff and end up having to have the dealer charge me double to fix my errors, LOL.

When I talk to the dealer Friday which Gear Driven cam do you suggest and how much would it cost since they might do the labor to fix it but not replace the part (I would have to pay for the part again for sure). I don't think Harley makes a gear driven cam for my bike since they did not offer me one when I was speaking to the dealer.

Thanks

Mac,

That does help, now I can ask about those parts (257 cams and hi comp pistions). As I posted,my dealer said if something goes wrong with the SE head I would be on the hook for the head.I wish it was a dealer in So Cal.

In your post you didn't say how much HP but you did say 93Tg (Torque). Do you know how much HP he got? I would imagine with the SE head he should be up at 100 HP at least. was it the domed Hi compression head (103 CI)?

Did he also get the SE racing tuner and have it dyno'd?

thanks.

'05 Wide Glide
HD SE Stage I 95" kit (including SE intake, stock cams)
V&H Pro Pipe
PCIII
80hp 88tq

I just spent the money up front at purchase, stayed with HD parts and service to preserve the warranty. I have no regrets... cams are next on the list.

Thrill seeker,

Those are very impressive numbers for just a stage one kit. They told me my stage one probably only added 10 HP and that should bring me somewhere around 70HP.

Mac,

Does the HO 1550 package and HI comp, mean it was the domed pistons giving him 103CI?

I'm gonna call another dealer today to see if I can get that deal where they will stand behind it till the end of my 7 year warrenty.

If they won't honor the warrenty and I can get to about 90HP vs 100HP andhave itunder warrenty I would do that.

Thanks Mac and everyone for all your quick reply's to help me get up to speed on dealing with getting my motor upgraded. I can hardley wait to get to the point that I'm telling you how happy I am with the final result.

Hey, we do have the best looking bikes, all your bike pictures look really good.
