Default Fuel tank question?

Does anyone here know what the difference is on a fuel injected tank and carb. one. I found a nice tank priced right off 2006 WG wasjust wondering what it would take to fit it to my 1996 wg with carb. Any info would be appreciated!

I am not 100% sure of the details, but the fuel supply outlets are different - I don't know if it's in location or because fuel injected doesn't work on gravity while a carbureted bike's fuel feed works off of a gravity fed petcock. A guy in my Edison, NJ HOG chapter had a fuel injected Road King that he made into a carbureted bike. He plugged up the tank fuel outlet for the fuel injected outlet and had an independent shop put in a gravity petcock. I didn't even notice until he pointed it out to me.

A tank for a carbureted bike will have a vacuum operated fuel valve (petcock), an EFI tank will have a fuel pump inside it. I've heard of people converting an EFI tank over by drilling and installing a petcock but it seems like it would be pretty complicated.

That link buggers up my enternet, so... I didn't read it.
A while back I was thinking of ditching my EFI for a carb... I was planning, and wanted to pass on to ya the idea of, using the fuel level sending unit & fule guage assembly from the EFI set up.

so you know the 04+ tanks will not bolt up to your frame. I did not read the article, however in 04+05 both FI and carb were available for the dyna. They both use the same tank, the petcock threads into an adaptor that fits the wider opening of the EFI capable tank. Won't matter anyways like I said, the 04+ ain't gonna fit anyhow. In 04 the tanks were lengthened and have a little different mount locations. If you did get a 04 tank to fit, then your seat would no longer fit. Prior to 04 the rear mount for the tank was lower on the frame than it is 04+, this is the reason why the seats on 04+ have a much steeper slope to them at the front than 03 and earlier.
