Question Add Buttonless Security FOB

Just purchased a used 09 Superglide that has security system. Found instructions on how to assign a button operated FOB but can't find one for a buttonless? Read posts that say the dealer has to program it. Is this true? No instructions in owners or service manual?

Thanks, I do have one that works and I assigned a new pin so I can by-pass security if I lose it. Wonder if I can assign a button FOB? Not sure if I really like the security, another item to add to the key chain!

Pretty sure the dealer is the only one who can assign a new fob to your bike.

Well I did some research and it looks like you need some proprietary software called "Digital Technician" that the dealer has. Looks like I'll be going to the dealer?

That's great but who the hell has the snap on scan tool. That most likely cost as much as the dealer charges

I gave a local mechanic $50 for programming my replacement Fob. It took about 5 minutes, it was so easy.
In your network of friends, someone knows someone working and an auto repair facility using a Snap On Tool scanner. Just make sure it has ver 17.2 software. Adapter cable sold on ebay and Amazon.

As you have found out, there is no customer/owner procedure for programming a buttonless FOB for an HD, hands-free security system.

There are several diagnostic tools that will accomplish what you want to do, besides the Dealer's Digital Tec II or Snap-on tool.

I use The TechnoResearch Centurion Pro (currently $1800).

I bought the Centurion Pro so I could maintain my 4 Twin Cams, without the need to go to a dealer. I got it several years ago when dealers around here started charging a minimum of an hour to do something that uses their Digital Tech II computers, even if it only needed 10-15 minutes. (plus the Centurion Pro was cheaper back then).

I have added a FOB and changed a PIN for a couple close friend's bikes. It will do almost anything a dealer can do on their Digital Tech computer.

The Centurion Pro and other tools, can make changes to the security, bleed ABS brakes, and numerous other things including programing a new BCM or ECM. You may know someone who has one. Many independent shops will have one and could help you out. An Independent Shop will most likely charge far less than a dealer to help you out with a new FOB.

With the Centurion Pro, it takes longer to hook up the tool, than to add/subtract a FOB from your TSSM or BCM....

Good luck getting your FOB programed.

Not to derail this thread, but any idea why the dealer would think I have an aftermarket ECM when they tried to program my new fob? I was in Myrtle and lost my fob. Bought a new one and dealer service dept got me right in. Tech came out and said "you have an aftermarket ECM in that CVO?" I said no. Power vision tuner, but it's in Ohio. He said huh, I can try a different way. Then a little bit later I was riding away.
