My Impressions of the Dyna compared to other bikes I have owned:

I started riding in 1971 on a Honda CL100. Rode it for three years and gave it to my brother when I had saved up enough for a Honda CB350. Rode it about two years and got a Honda 450. Came real close to getting a CB750 when I was 18 years old but could not get financed. I still laugh about that. I later rode a Yamaha 750 Virago many miles that belonged to my best friend who did not ride much. Took 24 years off to raise kids, enjoy boating and start a business and now I'm simply going crazy over Harley's. Thank God my wife loves them as much as I do.

The looks and styling of the FXDWG are simply awesome. It is very comportable to me and I'm 6"1" tall and the wife who is just 5"4" can touch the ground. It is FAST compared to everything I have ridden except for the Yamaha. It handles and corners very well with total confidence. It will jump from 70 to 85 MPH way faster than the 08 Street Glide and the 2010 Ultra. The ride is as good as either of the other two Harleys. The brakes are no where near as effective as the baggers. I don't have a problem with them and they get the job done but there is a noticable difference. The kick stand is a PAIN IN THE *** to find without looking back for it. I'm sure over time it will be second nature but right now it seems like a bad design. There is a LOT more vibration than with the baggers. I can only guess that I assumed it was rubber mounted like the baggers but I guess it is not. I like the vibration and while not that bad cruising at 70 MPH the bad thing is the mirror which are just a blur.

It was 36 degrees when I left the dealership with a 10 to 15 MPH head wind most of the way home. You really cannot appreciate how effective the fairings are on the baggers until you get on a bike like this. I swear I was afraid to take one hand off the bars for fear I would fly off the back of the bike. It was like I was holding on for dear life with all the wind on my body.

The throttle is a little different than the electronic one on the baggers but not much. The main thing I noticed it I have to twist it off. It was like I was on cruise holding on today and had to make an effort to let off the throttle.

First Impressions: AWESOME (My Bobber with a warranty!)
Am I pleased with the bike? YES
Would I do it again? HELL YEAH
Would I recommend this bike to a friend: OH YEAH
Do I look forward to logging more miles: YES the sooner the better!
Is it a long distance Motorcycle? No not for me owning a bagger. I've got soft!

I've got to get use to the smaller fuel tank also.

Thanks guys

Thanks

I really like the black but the only ones around here were with the orange flames on the tank. I let the wife pick and I knew she would go with the red. The was the color our Street Glide started out as and her favorite.

But the black is SWEET!

Nice looker ya got there.
As to the brakes, when you change pads you can get better grabbing ones that make a huge diff.
I put a National Cycle shield on my WG and love it. Its a quick remove one and comes off in a minute.
I've ridden mine on long rides, and with the right seat (aftermarket more than likely) you'll find the feel alot more conducive to the long ride. But you've got a bagger, so what the hey...lol. I'm planning a ride down to Raleigh in the spring....

Oh, and my '03 WG's engine is rubber mounted, I'll bet yours is too.

Have fun on a great fun bike. And be safe out there.

Mike
