I have had several members ask about them. When I get a chance I am going to remove mine and use them to make several sets and offer them up to members here. The only thing is the brake rod has to have 1 1/4" removed from the rear of it. I used my bandsaw to cut the threaded section from the rear of the brake rod and then removed 1 1/4" and then welded the threaded section back on with my mig welder. Then ran the weld across the belt sander and applied a little primer and Rustoleum gloss black and you can't tell where I made the mod. It looks stock. The shift rod needs no mods because the shifter can be removed and repositioned. I purchased 8 new stainless bolts from the local bolt store since the stock ones are a pain to work with because they are the self tapping type. 4-1" bolts and 4-1 1/4" bolts. The plates have nuts welded to the back of them for the forward brackets to bolt to. That is where you need the 1 1/4" bolts.
I have the reach seat on my bike, been using it for about 2 years, HARD AS A BRICK, the MOST UNCOMFORTABLE POS I HAVE EVER SEEN (for long rides) works well for my trips back and forth to work, but after 50 miles I can't stand it.
Thanks for the feedback and based on that I'm probably going to shy away from the reach seat. The seat that everyone seems to like is the Mustang Vintage Solo. With the temps being close to zero here in Missouri I have plenty of time to think about it.
I put a mustang vintage solo on my nightster when I had it.
It moved me foward a little, but raised me up probably an inch. Of course the nightster seat is much thinner than my stock Street Bob seat. Might want to give mustang a call to see if there is a difference like that with the vintage solo and the wide glide stock.
Ghostrider69, I would also be intrested in a set of those. Please let me know how much and when they might be available. (no hurry winter here in chicago)
My wife is 5'4" and uses a reach seat. She says it works for moving her forward and down but has never said anything about comfort. Her legs are at full extension on her forward controls. She now can stand flat footed, but still struggles to back the bike up. I am about 5'10" and find the seat to put me too close to the tank and to be too hard.
Ghostrider...let me know when you have those brackets available and how much for them!
