I too tried drag bars. I have 6" straight risers from choppers inc. and NT drag bars. It's killing my hands and forearms.

So now... after riding a friends bike and liking his setup... I'm going the opposite direction. Just got some 16" apes and 4" risers.

My hands are going from 6" rise and 27" apart to 20" rise and 39" apart.

Much more comfortable for me.

That said, you're never gonna know for sure until you try different setups. Unfortunately, it will cost ya. But once you find something that works, sell everything you don't use and try to make up the diff.

This is my third set of bars on this bike. I bought it new in '06. I have liked all the bars for different reasons. the stock bars are fine. I changed them because I just wanted something new, so I put on black 12" bars. These were good untill I just decided to do something different again. Both the stock bars and 12" bars were comfortable and I went on crosscounty trips with both. The stock (to me) were alittle more comfortable on long trips, but the 12" looked real good and were pretty comfortable.
So I know the stock bars are an option for comfort, but I am for some reason looking for the "perfect bars." I love the way the drag bars feel and handle they just hurt the upper back. If I change to 6 to 6.5" pullbacks do ya'll think I can keep the drag bar feel and have all day comfort.

I know everyone is different, but what do you think, do difffernt risers sound like they would help out?

I found that 12" apes and 4 1/2" risers have been my best combo that I have tried!
I have ran this set up for 2 trips that were over 4000 miles a piece. this is far off of what you are trying, but it is just my 2 cents.

For me, it was the bar setup that allowed any number of miles to be clicked off at one time. My setup allows me that... short run fun and long *** days... either one.
HD fat mini apes on fat 4" risers.

I would def give the higher pullback risers a try.
