2010 harley! The bike I've wanted since I was a kid. I really do not trust the dealers and when I started hearing those sounds I tripped out. Not to mention the stupid stock pipes are so quiet that I can here every little sqeak the bike makes. I plan to fix that with some VandH Big radius 2 into 2 pipes, By the way Red Devil that is one sick Super Glide!
It may be the gas you are using. Go to another gas station and watch the amount of ethanol the gas contains (the lower, the better). Use high test only and, finally treat your gas with STABIL gas additive. This makes a huge difference...
The shift speeds you posted seem a little low to me.I have a 2008 fxd, i do not shift to 2nd till about 20-22 mph etc. I stay in 5th till 65 -68 mph. After awhile you should start getting a feel as to what your motor likes. The 96 is a stroked motor and seems to run ""freed up "" At a little higher rpm than other harleys i have owned in the past.Running slow in a high gear is a motor killer, although i see folks do it all the time.
When my 2010 was new it had a significant knock if I let the revs drop. I have 1,000 miles on it now and it does not do that as much. The V-Twin in my 2010 WG seems unhappy at low RPM. My metric inline-4 will run right off idle (even in top gear) and not complain at all. Two completely different rides, I like them both.
