Default Maxi Fuse Question

I am going to install a chrome coil cover on my 2010 FXDC (no alarm system on bike). The first step in the instructions says to remove the Maxi Fuse.

Do you have to remove the maxi fuse if you don't have an alarm system?

Thanks

They always recommend to remove the fuse or disconnect the battery neg. terminal when working on something with wiring. Anyways, just pull the fuse, takes all of 2 seconds to do. Probably won't damage anything if you don't, but you could if you pull a geek and somehow wind up shorting out something.

All I did was remove the plug wires and left the ignition key in the kitchen. Ensure to put enough loktite on the three screws on the bottom.

Lots of stuff says to do that and I rarely do. Just make sure nothing is turned on and discharge any static electricity (it is that time of year) from your body before you go touching anything that could send it back through the system. When I installed my Kuryakyn flush mount gas gauge the other day, it said to disconnect the battery first, but I didn't. I just made sure the system wasn't on and I wasn't "charged".

I disconnected the battery when I installed mine (and I have an alarm).

I just pulled the Fuse. Can't remember I think I had to reset the clock but everything else is okay. On most things where it says disconnect the battery making sure everything else is off and pulling the maxi-fuse is enough.
