I just bought a Thundermax and I now need a pipe . I have been holding off for over a year now, spending money on this bike. Between child support and the economy.... . But I am starting to turn the corner and I want my winter project to be the T-Max , pipe, and a/c . Not much , but it's a start . I really love the Thunderheader , but I'm dubious over the quality . What are your opinions . Worth the money , or buy another 2 into 1 ? Also , can you show me some pics of it on your bike ? Especially the chrome ones .
I've actually never seen a chrome one up close.Black seems to be the more popular version.I've never had a problem with build quality on mine and I didn't even have a problem with the black finish as many others have had.It is a bit of a struggle to get bolted up if you don't pull off the foot peg a trick I didn't learn until after I'd had it off and on twice.Other than that they cost too damn much and I hate that they don't come with heat shields, maybe why the black is more popular.Sound is awesome and I doubt you'll get a better performance bump out of a pipe.My bike could not be tuned to run decent with a DFO so I went to a SERT and had it tuned on a Dyno the bike has run great ever since and is making more HP than some TC96s.It's an 06 TC88 with nothing more done to it than a Thunderheader, Screaming Eagle intake and tuned on a dyno with a SERT. 80HP,92lbs TQ.

I love Thunderheaders, especially on dynas! Not sayin it's the best pipe out there but it is in my eyes & I've tried a few others & allways end up stayin with a Thunderheader...great performance, outstanding sound & as far as chrome quality goes, I've had good luck with em! Shields arent all perfect & all pretty lookin like some of the full shields, but it's not meant to be a beauty pagent winning pipe, LOL! My chrome still looks great...after a long ride I just use a piece of OOO steal wool on the reversion cone & it still looks new! Computer is acting like a bit** & I can't post pics right now...there are pics on my profile, check em out!
When I bought my Streetbob in 06, Thunderheader was the only pipe available. I resently sold it and got the VH Big Radius. Seems like everyone has either of the two but it's new to me!
