One time I was cruising along and felt the familiar thump of an insect hit me in the chest. I thought it was no big deal, as I'm sure we've all been the last thing to go through an insects mind on more than one occasion. But about a minute later I felt this incredible pain in the general area of my "happy place". It got worse and worse and I eventually had to pull over. When I got off the bike this huge, fat, yellow bee fell from my lap. I quickly put 2 and 2 together and began to stomp the bee with a vigor and determination hitherto unknown to the people of this area. When I got home I took a look and found his stinger sticking out of my leg about an inch and a half away from my goodies.
Twice I've had a bee get inside the helment. So far I haven't been stung. The first time I got to watch it on my nose until I got stopped and got my helment off. The next time it flew out before I got stopped. I hope that is my quota for a while.
Yes, Mud does work. Used that remedy when I was a teenager. After being stung by a Wasp in the Hay meadow, I slapped a handful of wet mud on my arm and hardly noticed any pain or swelling.
Hey Clay, sorry to hear about the bad buzz. I have to agree with several of the posts, welcome to the club and I hope you don't sound like mushmouth for too long.
I got stung earlier this summer for the first time by a wasp right on the side of the neck [:@]
I carry a benadryl in my pocket when riding for long distances...works great for me.
My brother was mowing lawn yesterday afternoon and found a nest of ground bees, after being stung he went to the house and took some benedryl, next thing he remebers is waking up on the floor with a 4 inch gash in the back of his head, seems he passed out and fell on something hard. He was at the docs late last night getting stitched up, pretty bad cut I guess. He had never been allergic to bees before either. I work in the logging industry and finding bees is a very common occurance around this time of year, I carry an epinepheran( not sure on the spelling) pen just in case and will be putting it in my bag for the trip to sturgis.
