Default Watch out for the bees man

I just got home from a very short ride. On the way i got hit with a bee in the lip and it stung me, holy s$%# that hurt and man is it swollen. My lip looks like a case of plastic surgurey gone very wrong. so the moral of the story watch out for the bees man, they play to win.

That sucks, clay. As if we don't have enough to worry about just with watching out for cages! Hope you feel better soon.

Being allergic to bee stings, and apparently attractive to the basturds,
I did learn how to deal with the stings a long time ago.

Here's what ya do:

as soon as humanly possible,
race to the supermarket.
Run in.
Grab a lemon and pull out your pocketknife.

Slice it in half, and place the wet side directly on the bit.

Apparently the acid draws out or neutralizes the poison.

I have used this technique successfully many times.

I had some kind of stinging insect go up the sleeve of my jacket on a ride not to long ago. Stung the crap outa me on several places of my left arm. For those who are allergic to insect stings, there is a small kit you can buy that has tweezers etc. and a supply of some type of medication. I understand that Benydryl works really well to control swelling.

Congratulations and welcome to the fraternity. If you ride a lot it won't be your last. And don't forget the birds, beetles and other stuff you are going to get nailed by to! A windshield can help yo keep track of the near hits. Enjoy the buzzzzz!

I remenber my grandma putting chewing tobacco and someone suggested use of mud. Yesterday riding up north I had forgotten sun screen for already burn't arms and stopped at a dollar store for some coccoa cream. Found this stuff called mitigator for stings and bites. It feels like a liquid in small foil package, $.50 a package. Hope it works.

i never ride without gloves if i'm wearing a jacket (anymore) I used to but it seemed that my sleeves turned into a target for bees and i'd get stung because they'd fly in there and couldn't get out. Growing up I was never allergic to bees but the last couple of times i've been stung on the arm I looked like popeye. I could hardly get my sleeve off my swollen arm last time and ended up at the doctors for antibiotics.
Now i either ride with a jacket and gloves or neither, just a tshirt. That way they either bounce off or fly right by (hopefully)
