2005 FXDWGI idleing issues?
I have a 2005 FXDWGI and it always warmed up and idled under 1000 rpm in about a minute unless it was 30 degrees or colder when I went for a ride. Even then it only took maybe 2 minutes to get to an idle of or underr 1000. Now for the past season it takes about 5 minutes in warm weather on a "cold" start to get to a good idle? I've replaced the plugs the wires the air filter cleaned the TPI unit replaced the idle air flow motor or something to that effect? This was supposed to be "the" fix to get it back to normal but did not pan out. I'm not throwing any codes other than a code that lets me know the bike can't talk to the speedo which I changed out for a digital unit. Any help anyone can offer would be appreciated!
What digital speedo did you go with and how is it getting its signal for speed?
If you altered the wiring or use of the OEM Vehicle Speed Sensor, you may have created your problem since some of the electronic components depend on information fed from this unit.
I have a digital speedo and installed a separate speed sensor which is independent of any factory electronic components to avoid any such issues. If your problems end up being VSS related and you want more info on use of another speed sensor, feel free to contact me.

Just curious, but has your part of the country recently started using the 10% ethanol ?Reason i ask is my buddies anniversary model Wide Glide started having some idleing issues after our area gas stations went to the 10% ethanol gas.His bike runs fine after warm up, but he has noticed idle issues that he did not have until the ethanol gas entered the scene.
I had a problem with my 05' WG at idle a few months after I swapped tins & installed a new fuel pump. Put the 'old' fuel pump back in and all my troubles went away.
Apples to oranges - but worth a shot.
Another sensor that is over looked is the cylinder temp sensor on the front cylinder, look behind the horn. It's possible the resistance value may have changed over the years and thru the many heat cycles. Don't know what the resistance values would be for testing.

I have put the factory speedo back in the harness from time to time to check codes but it is always the same code about not having comunication with the speedo. The ethanol idea seems to make more sense to me,at this point there is NOwhere to get any gas around me without it? Anyone have any idea's about where to find any fuel without the ethanol in it?
Thanks for all the replies! I appreciate the help!

Again appreciate the help Guy's!!
on the ethanol issue, get some marine formula sta-bil. It is an "ethanol treatment and performance improver".. this stuff is cheap too, you get 8 oz for about 10 bucks, and only use 1 oz per 10 gallons. So 16 tanks of treatment for 10 bucks.
