I gotta tell ya I'm very interested in the answers to this question ... I have the quick release HD shield on my bob ... I've moved it up and down and all around ... can't make up my mind ... I generally like it so that I'm looking over it, but just barely ... I'm not sure I've found the exact position I like acutally
I have the HD quick release large shield on my bob also, I can see over it if I want but usually only throw it on when I am hitting the superslab or it is cold, at a high MPH i usually look through the shield, to keep the buffeting down.
You can put me down for see over. I cut 2 inches off the top of my QD because it was right in my line of sight. The only time I see through it is in the rain and that is almost impossible.
Definitely see over. Over time a windshield will get cloudy and such making it hard to see if you're always seeing through it. The wind will still deflect away from you even though you're looking above it.
I look over. I also have the HD quick disconnect. Because I am short I cut 3-1/2 inches off of it. Now it is purfect for me. The worst position is when the top is right in your line of sight, then you are either straining to look over or ducking to look through. Both cases is bad for longer periods of time.
over....looking thru bug guts and dirt gets old. I don't like the distortion either. I hate windshields tho unless it's really cold or I'm going to ride a long long distance.
