I just had a discouraging phone call with my local shop. He said there is no set rate for truing a wheel. He said "we charge $70/hr and it has taken from 1-11 hours per wheel so that would be up to $770 per wheel."

really?

I wish I didnt live in the middle of nowhere.

i would run a 3.5/(or 4.0) 19 front ring to safely run a 120/19 front tire, i ran the twisted stainless, they also have fatty spokes that are killer man! if you do it i woudl sugest the fatty spokes and doing a larger front ring... will look great!

Call a different shop!! Even the stealership doesn't charge that much. It should be LESS than $100 per wheel to have them trued. A lot places will lace And true for $100 or less. Even if you had to ship your parts out to someone to have assembled, it'd be less money than that. Hell, Buchanans will not only custom build spokes for you, they'll lace and true your wheel. I don't know their rate for wheel assembly though.

70-85 is about right to true a wheel, to be honest, plus another 75-85 to lace it.... true'n is a pain! i do not even do it, i lace them and have my buddy that does dirtbikes true the wheel for me, he does not charge me full $ cause i bring him about 2 - 3 sets of wheels a week, but it is still $$$$, i have seen people spend up to 100 per wheel truing them on some wacked wheels. doing spokes is $$$$ peopel think it is cheap for some reason.

I do like those fat spokes...do those work in a regular hub?

I am new to this area so I have done some calling around. Dothan, AL is the big city here and its not that big...but I managed to find a great place called coleman motorcycle compnay. I just got that feeling when I called (and was speaking with the owner) that this guy is here to help. He said an hour to build and true each wheel, an hour and a half max.

Now I need to track down hubs and rims. There are some 06 wheels for sale...but im going to need a hell of a deal to make this work out cost wise.

thanks for your help guys. In another thread, someone said there are people on here who know there stuff...you guys definitely rank high on my list. I think both of you have advised me before. I really appreciate it.

I really want to change my spokes to red, but the down time and $$$ to relace and true is slowing me on doing it.

I can always coat the spokes i have here in red and send them to you, then all you need to do is break down and put them back together
150 for the front and rear coated
