Default spokes

How do I know what spokes I need to buy? I am going to rebuild a set of 07 street bob wheels but I have no idea how motorcycle spokes are sold.

Is there an offset on either wheel? Is there a difference in guage or are all spokes a standard guage? Any reccomendation on where to buy them?

I am pretty sure that I just want to get stainless spokes, but thats about all I know right now.

Call buchananspokes.net, hdwheels.com, or landmarkmfg.com. All three of these offer great custom service and will be a great source of help. They are not the cheapest, but reasonable for the help and product you get.

Must agree, one of these is who I would contact. I have worked with HDWheels.

What are you trying to DO exactly? (Upsizing your rims? Staying with stock rims but want different spokes? What?)

end goal is black hubs black rims and stainless spokes. My plan is to find a set of take offs and cut the spokes out, have the rims and hubs powdercoated and rebuild them with new (stainless) spokes.

This seems to be the easiest/most cost effective way of doing this. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Stock wheels with rusting spokes.

The only reason that I am looking at getting a second set to mess with is so that I dont have to mess with too much down time.

Gotcha. That rules out my first thought, modifying your current wheels. If you're going to be dealing with a new set of wheels/powder/relacing and all, you could just as well make some other changes. (you're already looking at an investment) You could switch to a 21" front, a 23" even. On the contrary, you could go to a 16", or 18" for a fatter front end. You could bump the rear up to an 18" or down to a 16" for a more traditional look. Possibilities are endless. Find some hubs that will fit, figure out what rim combo you want, and call one of the manufacturers jmpancoast recommended with your decision; they'll get some stainless spokes made up for your application. (I prefer buchanans, personally.) Get parts powdered and lace 'em up, and you're ready to roll.

Not a fan of the larger front wheel...never throught about going smaller and fatter, I like that idea....although I did already buy tires.

What happened is I bought a set of 09 SB wheels (and tires to go on them) thinking I could just do a bearing swap and be done...that is not the case. There were many changes from 07 to 09.

JRK, that is tempting...but I think I want to go stainless...and I was looking at HDWheels stainless with black chrome nipples.

I love (hate) spending money.
