The seams were double braided with leather lace. Measured the contour of the sides and the faces and markes them at every cm (1 cm apart, 1/2 cm inside). After marking them I made holes using a kind of plyer hole thing with different hole sizes. It's a tool sold at what you guys would call Ace Hardware in the states.

And NO it isn't waterproof but remedied that too. Made myself a plastic liner. Bought plastic, rather thick but still flexible and cut out the shape of the bag using my templates and glued them together using hot glue gun. Then stuck a velcro liner on the plastic and another on the inside of the saddle bag and VOILA!!!
