ya no doubt, I think having 160 plus hp it's gonna burn it off no matter what ya do! I would say a chain for sure if these were to be ran on the track with a slick without a doubt!! Just fun toys is all they are, lol!

Hey Chad,

Don't want to jinx your friend but he may not have broken a belt......yet! This build has broken the belt so we went to a chain.

Chain is obviously a good move, but I don't feel entirely neccessary!

This bike is my daily rider and I hope to get a lot more than 10,000 miles. I'll keep you posted.

The only difference in approach regarding maintenance is more frequent oil changes (every 1000 to 1500 miles).

Also change the tranny and primary fluids on a shorter schedule, and oil the chain every 500 miles (or if I get caught in some rain storms).

It's deffinately a labor of love with these type of motors...not for many besides the sick & twisted, lol! Gotta love it! These bikes are a superglide, and two lowriders...all 3 are pre 06! Very evtertaining!

Ya just jinxed em, LOL! Belts look fine but will get new ones this winter anyhow! Who knows maybe they'll convert to chains in the future? These things are like light switches...on or off! They crossed the line a long time ago, LOL! How does yours ride, bet it still has pretty good street manners at your power level?

I'd love to have that kind of power in the bike but it's just not worth it to me if it wouldn't be reliable and last somewhat long. I guess it's the equivalent of a 572" mountain motor or something in a car

LOL! This is true, not for everyone...but remember they also have less aggressive bikes they can take on those long all day rides!

That's funny you mention that about the 572"...I'm currently building a solid roller pump gas 509 with AFR 315's that'll produce nothing shy of 650hp for my 64 chevelle street car! Ya...I'm one of those sick & twisted I mentioned earlier, LOL!

Man I gotta appologize...I just realized I highjacked the fu** out of this thread! Can't look back now!

Bike has remarkably great street manners. When you ride it WOT though it's an animal. Hits 100 in third gear and gets there quickly and just keeps pulling.

I went from an 88" to 95" to 107" but this 117" motor is in a totally different league. Bike's a lot of fun to ride.

I'd ask ya to let me take her for a spin but I fear it could be very addictive

I have never been concerned with the reliability of this build. The parts which went in were all top flight. So far 100% trouble free.

Time (and miles) will tell, but I don't agree that performance has to equate to less reliabilty if it's built right.
