Default my dyna is breathing better but??????

Hey guys, I have a 92 dyna with a well broken in 1340 evo. Its got 38,000 on it. I just installed a set of rinestars, flush tips, and put on a forcewinder intake. I have had mixed opinions on whether or not I need to re jet. I talked to a couple of friends and they said to go one up on both jets. Harley said they would love to look at it and figure it out, thanks guys, hard to find a tech who just wants to help for free. It runs pretty good, just noticeably different. Its an older engine and she seems hesitant to accept change. It has a stock cv carb on it. It backfires a bit more, slow accelerating from start, but smooth once up to speed. I am just wondering if anyone else had this setup and what they did, or what the guru's recommend. As far as top end its good, thats why I am asking? Should I go one up on both, also begs the question of what octane fuel I should be running. Any answers or insight is greatly appreciated.

The only way to really tell without dynoing the engine or monitoring the air fuel mixture while running the engine is to learn to read the sparkplugs. I included a couple of links to give you a heads up on it. When we were racing dirt track cars this was the key between winning and building another engine.

Sometimes the old ways are the best. Put a fresh set of plugs in your scoot and put a couple of hundred miles on them. Pull them and take a look. If you see that your scoot is now running lean or rich, as the plugs will indicate, adjust your jets accordingly.

I would get a mikuni carb and maybe a new intake as well.

Man, 38,000 on an EVO is just starting to break it in! The Mikuni idea is good, but the best bet for least amount of money is to do as suggested and tune based on plugs. That will get you in the ball park. Beyond that, you'll have to take it to a dyno and a good tuner.

Here is a pretty good guide on tuning a CV carb: http://www.harley-performance.com/ha...arburetor.html
