Default True-Track installed

For those of you who are considering the True-Track I can report that it works as advertised, and that the install of the rear bracket is a bit of a bear, as others have stated. The only PIA of the install was dealing with the wire bundle back there. I ended up removing the plastic clamp that holds the wiring and battery vent tube to get enough slack and clearance around the rear bracket. Handling and suspension are much sharper and more positive, no more "hinge in the middle" feeling around bumpy corners. Nothing comes without a cost though and the price for that better ride is more vibration, my bike feels more like my '05 Sportster now than the smooth and vibe-free machine my Dyna has been ('08 FXDC). A quality product that does just what it says, if you care about handling you need this.

Thanks for your input. I was considering a TT for my 07 Low Rider......but now you have me wondering about the increase in vibration. I have a hard time seeing traffic through my mirrors at higher speeds now. Cant imagine it being worse. I dont understand why you have to make something worse to get something better.
So, I'll have to rethink getting the TT.

It's not bad, just noticeable if you haven't had it before. My FXDC has always been almost a smooth as a Goldwing at speed. I've seen posts from guys complaining about vibes and wondered what they were talking about. Makes me wonder if they have problems with motor mounts or alignment. Admittedly my bike with 7K on it had the motor mount bracket to frame bolts out of spec for torque when I put on the True-Track, maybe that made it smoother (and floppier). Ask them if they'll refund your money if you aren't happy with the ride after you install.

I been thinking on getting TT, any tips for installing the rear? Do you remove one bolt at a time at the rear so it does not drop, I do have a motorcycle jack.

Sigmoid...... problem is, I dont do any wrenching.....it would be installed by a dealer, so I'll pay to install it.....and if I dont like it, would have to pay to uninstall it. At $80. per hour labor rate.... we're talking some bucks here, not to mention the cost of the TT itself.
I've complained to the dealer several times about my vibration. It's my LEFT mirror that's the worst. At 55 + it's useless....you cant see anything out of it. They've checked everything, motor mounts, wheel balance, front end alignment... but said they've heard the same complaint from others.
Anyway..... I'll have to really think about it before I decide to take the plunge.

The vibration is not bad after TT install. At higher rpm's it is as smoth as I can remember it being before the install. To me it is not a reason to not make the purchase.

Is it just your mirrors that bother you or do hand grips, pegs , etc. vibrate too much also.
The reason I ask is I got new mirrors with longer stems to see better with my drag bars and the longer stem mirrors will vibrate alot more than a short stem.

My bike has LESS vibration after installation of the TT. My first thought is to look at balancing your motor. The procedure is outlined in the service manual.

For just handlebar vibration, I've been interested in the Vibranator. I know Mud got a set and was going to install in just one handlebar to test the effects. Haven't heard if he's started it yet though. Here's the link if you're interested: http://www.vibranator.com/default.asp

jss1975snow: The front one is a piece of cake. I used a lift for the bike and a bottle jack to support the engine/tranny so there was no weight on the bolts. The front one shifted a bit but it's all rubber so a big screwdriver to lever it into alignment was all I needed. For the rear one, be sure you have the motor/tranny supported. The instructions say to not separate the Heim joints from the rear brackets but I couldn't see any way to do it without doing so. There is simply no clearance to fit a wrench for the top rear bracket bolt. For each bolt just remove one at a time and then replace it before doing the next one. The rear bracket fit over (around) the rear lower bolt so don't tighten it until you have the upper one started through. There seems to be some variance between the different Dynas, some guys have had to move the banjo bolt/brake line to the right past the frame but I had plenty of room there. some guys have done this with the bike on the sidestand without too much trouble but I can't bend over that far anymore. The hardest part was getting all the wiring around the rear bracket. Maybe that's easier if the swingarm isn't hanging down, but I doubt it. See here for pics of a good install. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/dyna-...k-install.html
Don't forget to use Blue Loctite, and torque everything to 30 ft/lbs.

Hell Hound......yes, it's just my mirror that seems to be the problem. I did put new mirrors after my first summer of riding. Mind you, my first summer of riding I dont think I went over 50mph. I was a brand new rider, on a big bike and could only reach the ground on my tip toes. I was afraid of the bike.....and rightly so. Long story short.....bike lowered 2", got new mirrors, new grips, and a bunch of other things....and really started to "ride". By the end of that summer, I actually went on the freeway and that's when I noticed the vibration. So if it was on there before the mirror swap out, I dont know.

YSO191....... I'll have to check that out. If you hear anything after your friend installs his..... send me a private message would ya?
