This won't help if someone picks the bike up and loads it in a truck or trailer but you should invest in a disc lock. They don't allow the bike to roll. I would also lock the forks as well. If you've got the factory security system on there...use it.
Disc lock picture: I got a bright orange lock which helps to visually alert would be thiefs that it may not be worth their time to screw with it.
Lightnings , get the disc lock like PC98 said. And also see if you can park it close to the front door of the intrance to the lobby or just get a ground floor room and bring it inside with you ! If your worried about leaving it outside . Steve my .02
u can also get a pad lock that will fit into the rotor hole just a basic padlock i use 2 on my bike front and rear they are much cheaper then the rotor locks and work just as well .. remember that if they want it they will get it .. i have also seen people chain bikes together anything what will slow them down might make then think twice about getting your bike
That has to be the best way but not always possible. We lock two bikes together with a cable lock, makes it hard to load into truck. If we are on one bike I put the cable through the frame and around a post. I think if they are going to target your bike it won't last long.

Get a room on ground level and take it in the room at night.
We always stay at the old type motels and park the bikes right out side the window ....chained together. The rooms are not the best but the owners love bikers and bend over backwards to accomedate us!
That sounds good. Sometimes the older hotels are better than the newer ones. On the one trip that I took, I also just parked in front of my room with the window open. It was a little noisier that way, but I could hear what was going on outside.
