Love my fork brace! Made a noticeable difference for me, and I have 49mm forks. Just tightened up things in the front a little. Made it a bit more stable in turns and highway speeds.
I just spent a week carving up some Colorado roads and boy do I wish I had a fork brace! IMHO if you do the "speed limit" as the orange signs suggest, no fork brace necessary. But, if your rule of thumb is 20+ over posted (spirited riding) a fork brace will work wonders. I have yet to purchase mine. My bike felt like it was on the edge of imploding! And yes, I do ride hard and fast.
Narrow Glide front ends (39-41 mm) are a little flimsy as the tubes actually twist under a load
especially without a front fender. So the brace (we called them tweek bars) was used to stop that. They do work to stabilize the tubes.
i have had my superbrace on for over a year now..i noticed a difference..had my bike for 6 years now..lots of riding,i have a 01 fxdl.39 mm tubes..it made a difference for me..there is alot of good riding here where i live..mousetail..hwy 104..dragons tail..cant speak for anyone but me..i feel it helped mine..plus it adds a lil more bling to the front..looks cool too..lol
I put a CCE fork brace on my 39mm narrowglide years ago and like how it improved the ride. The roads you ride on and style of riding probably have a lot to due as to whether you feel it is worth it.
When I convert to a 49mm mid glide one of these days, I'm not sure whether a fork brace will be as beneficial.
