that brace doesnt fit the 49mm forks - but I fabricated one similar in design and it does help quite a bit. I run without a front fender though.
The places I find they help the most are when riding on uneven pavement going up/down in elevation changes riding at a parralel - if that makes any sense at all. This happens alot if your riding a shoulder/bike lane with traffic - or places where some of the road has been resurfaced and other places havent
And to answer anotehr question - yes of course the 49mm forks flex - not as much as the spindlier brethren, but they do still flex
Its a bit like a lot of things we do to our rides, may not improve anything but on the flip side it cant hurt either, if it spins your wheels its all good in my book.
Even if it isn't noticeable in cruising with heavier forks. The added stabilization in the event of striking something is a no brainer. Ill be adding one when I put more progessive shocks on the front. Adding a true track is also high on my list.
i have had my superbrace on for over a year now..i noticed a difference..had my bike for 6 years now..lots of riding,i have a 01 fxdl.39 mm tubes..it made a difference for me..there is alot of good riding here where i live..mousetail..hwy 104..dragons tail..cant speak for anyone but me..i feel it helped mine..plus it adds a lil more bling to the front..looks cool too..lol
