Python 2-1 color disfiguration
Python 2-1 color disfiguration
I recently put a python 2-1 pipes on my 09 FXDC.
Rode for less than 500miles with Stage I on my bike.
Everything was wonderful with the pipe looking great in chrome.
Did a cam change gave to a HD dealer in Houston for a dyno tune. Mancusso Harley to be precise in North Loop FWY..
Today I went to pick up my bike and I was in a state of shock looking at the way my pipe color is disfigured.
I asked the dealer and he said, sometime this color disfiguration happens..
It really hurts to see my new pipes in this color
Is there something that I can do to the pipes to bring it back to its original chrome shine or do I have to live with this S**T.
Who should be blamed for this guys?
Should I ask the dealer for compensation

Shrini, you shouldn't have accepted it that way. Your pipe was in perfect shape when I put it in the trailer to go to Houston. Take it back and complain and ask them to do what ever it takes to return it to its original state even if they have to replace your pipe. That's Bullsh!t

Those guys at dealership are piece of s**t.
Now after I rode home & once I switched off the bike after a while I saw oil was leaking

I was really pissed with the pipe color.
BTW i got 85hp and 92lbs TQ with andrew's 26s

blue away is pretty abrasive.
that pipe has seen some pretty adverse conditions to discolor that far down.
just one more reason to never take your bike to the HD dealer.
they hire $8/hour "mechanics" that are fresh out of matchbook school.
leaking oil - ya - they definitely make that happen every chance they get - stay away - don't bring it back - move on to a good indy.

I have the same pipes.The clap is loose on yours and lets sum gas and heat get out.Thats what turned them blue.I used Mothers mag & aluminum polish, brasso and #00 Very Fine Steel Wool Pads to clean mine up.

I would say mothers aluminum polish will clean that right up. and yes it is quite possible the flange is leaking there as well. 2-1 pipes can be a bear to get lined up perfectly and leak free. I doubt the tech took the time to line everything up perfectly on the pipes. I just had my shields and exhaust powdercoated. I think I must have had mine installed poorly myself before cause now I really made sure everything was right on and the pipe is much louder, deeper and I have no pinging after a ride anymore. I think I might have had a slight leak at the front or rear flange before. Not to mention my canister is now sitting about 1/4" higher on the rear bracket mount(real important cause I kept scraping the rear of it in corners).
the bottom of my rear pipe turned blue from the front pipe exhausting on it i used blue away didnt have to rub that hard it came rite off and didnt leave any scuff marks try it on the bottom of the muffler first
