UP and Running with pics
First off, I want to give a
Powderpro, PkellyMC,Ackman1968,Jmpancoast, just to name a few, thanks amigos.
Since I live on the gulf coast, I decided this last december, I was friggin tired of deal with this,

That powder white crap (AKA oxidation/rust/cancer) that plagued my triple trees, sliders, levers, and other areas of my bike (and garage). So when I saw the Powder pro running his holiday special, I decided now is the time to fix this eye sore.
So off everything came from the front end and out to the powder pro.

Since I knew I'd have a few weeks in front of me, I figured, well, nows the time to call up magnum and get some Stainless braided brake lines on the way. And since I'm gonna change the brake lines, it would be a great time to replace the stock brake pads from eating my spokes/wheels up. And if I'm gonna take those pads out, heck I'm gonna clean those calipers out and throw a rebuild kit (seals) in em.

So new Lyndal brake pads and hd rebuild kits front and back.
Now I needed to get all the guts for the sliders on order before my powdercoating was finished and back to me so I ordered up all the inner parts.

One thing I commented on in a previous thread was the guide bushings on the left show copper, I assumed it was wear, well it is but they come new with a coating on them, copper, maybe, but the old one had worn a good bit off so it was the lack of copper that I should of been looking at, just for future knowledge there.
When I had my upper triple tree apart a few months back I was not impressed with the the neck bearings,

As you can see the race on the right is not only Hecho in Mexico but it had some decent caging at the center of the race, I didn't like that. Maybe Moco's lack of grease, not adjusted 100%, don't know but it was coming out and the new Timkins (US of A Baby) was going in.

The rest of the fork internals arrived and just in time.

The powder pro had just delivered back all of my frot end parts.
As I was putting my forks back together, I thought this might be a great opportunity to slam some Rico Intiminators in as well.

Also figured I'd get rid of the stock front wheel spacers and perty em up a little.

So I had ordered some chrome tapered axle spacers with axle bolt covers.
Nows where the problems started coming in.

The ones I bought and hd shipped to me were, well, mispackaged in taiwaan I guess. If you look at the two on the right, they are different size (this was the replacements a week later), the ones on the left were what they originally shipped (identical in size 3/4inch) and when I put em on with the wheel, it shifted everything over to the left 3/8 inch, didn't look right, sure enough hd admitted they packaged em wrong. But they made it right.
Front end going together nicely and a last minute thought (super brace 20% off sale) I added one of these numbers.

Now I removed the back wheel to replace the pads and install the new Magnum stainless braided brake line, and ran into problem number two.

The rear shock bolt cover on the right cracked. My friend (Jmpancoast)up in the frozen tundra northeast east made a nice contribution to my ride though and sent me a shiny almost new replacement.
I installed the new shock bolt cover and as I was doing this I noticed that the gap between the shock and cover was decreasing on the rear side as I tightened the bolt to torque, so it dawned on me, the left shock cover is getting cracked because of the dynamics of righty tighty and the cover moves to the right as it gets tightened which then after riding and vibration causes it to cracked as it pinches the shock. So I sandwhiched a rubber spacer in between the two, and torqued the bolt which allowed the cover to remain neutral. I found this on the opposite shock too but on the forward side is where it will stress it, so I did the same sandwhich deal and torqued it just fine.

Almost back together now, just missing a few things.

Right before put the wheels back on, I actually for the first time did clean the wheels like some folks on hdforums recommend with strips of an old shirt and like your running a shoe shine on each spoke. I gotta say, those wheels never looked so damn good before but each wheel probably took an hour to clean, polish, wax. I don't ever want to do that (and I know my back doesn't either) again in my life, so down the road I gotta do something with those things, powdercoat, stainless or mags or something.
Last but not least to this mess, I wanted to put on a fatboy headlight, wanted some additional lighting and thought it beefed up the front some, so I orered a one for a 2007 fatboy. Well next problem came up, after I got it all wired up , the retaining ring has 3 screws that are tapped into the bucket, and one of em wasn't tapped so the screw just falls in the hole, and guess what the box says Taiwaan like a lot of other hd stuff, &%$### A$$, anyway, I could either call and get another one shipped and ship this one back or handle it my own way. So I installed cherry max rivets and anchored down 3 nut plates and now, the damn tire or rider will fall off before this headlight does, haha.
Of ourse the fun is not done yet, if you change the headlight, got tweak the windshield,

Wasn't very excited about cutting into a perfectl good windshield but had to be done and when it was all said and done, with light sanding, polish, and buffing, turned out like new off the shelf.
So, here she is, ready to kick the tires and light the fires.

I think I also came to terms with a name for my ride, think I'm gonna call her Elvira, as in mistress of the dark, you know that gal from the 80's b rated horror flicks, well I use to watch the dog crap out of her show, and since I never got to ride her, at least I can ride this one, lol.
