So I'm thinking of getting my bike pin stripped, and wondered what others might have had done.
I'd love to see if you care to share.
Also, for those that have had pin strip work, I'd like to know if you had a vision of what you wanted done or if you just let the 'artist' loose on your bike...
Here's some of the work that I had done on my first bike. It was a metric and is rattle canned, but I had the pinstriping done. Just told him that I wanted the old school red and white. A far cry from when I got it for free and it was purple.
"... when I got it for free and it was purple." ...
huh ....
[oh, sorry, no pinstriping to add to the thread ....]
My dad was on the way home from Bike Week one year and dropped the bike off at my house after I told him that I wanted to learn to ride. It was a stock 1987 Honda VT1100 that was blue, but looked purple. I meant that the bike wasn't the best looking, but it came a long way with the rattle can paint job, the pinstriping, and the blacking out.
I had Dan Kite do some pinstriping on my tank and fenders at Del Marva bike week a couple years ago. I kind of gave him a general idea on what I wanted and he went from there. I had him do the sides of the back fender instead of the top of it since I never take the luggage rack off and it would just cover up the work he did.

That looks great! I may try to get some work done by him at Thunder Beach this Spring to tide me over until I can get the custom paint job I want. Are his prices reasonable?
I wanted to add some pinstipes to my bike but have some concerns. I think I have a case of Obsessivecompulsive disorder when it comes to cleaning my bike. I am constantly waxing and wonder if the pinstripes will start to wear of because there is no clearcoat on them. Anyone experience rubbing off the pinstripes?
