you rarely see an air cleaner matching the rest of the paint job unless the paint is black . it might look good , it might look like hell
Yeah, thought of that too but not sure how it would look. Bike was painted when I got it and it came from Virginia so I have no idea what colors were used, but I'd hope a good painter could match the base blue.
What about adding the tribal flames to match the rest of the bike? Too much?
Thanks. I'm running the full OEM CB a/c so it's well below the tank. Can't imagine it could hit anything but I appreciate the heads up and will watch for it.
Yeah I noticed that later on....to lazy to edit, so take it as a heads up if you get a ness.
Thanks for the idea. You must be remembering pics of my bike when I first bought it. I sold the skull gascap to another member here - just not into skulls. Running an aftermarket stock type cap at the moment.
Might be able to adapt your idea to relate to my lil buddy riding on the luggage rack. That's Tramp from Lady and the Tramp. It's my s/o's favorite movie and the house is full of the stuff she's collected over the years, LOL. Her 2000 Lowrider is Lady, this one is Tramp, and my FLHTC is Trusty (the bloodhound).
We've got engraved derbies for the two Dynas coming, hopefully in about a week or so. I'll post some pics when we get those on.
Yeah thats it, but hey I would still go with the wrinkle black the gloss just really stands out.
ah, wasn't sure if it was behind it or not, anyways, I bet the cover would look great with texture black to match the engine and battery box. the paint is only 20 bucks at the moco and very good paint. Your paint job is great, you really found a nice bike to have had it painted like that from the get go.

I've got a can of Rustoleum textured black I bought to touch up some lawn furniture. Thinking I'm gonna give that a try and see how it turns out. Didn't realize HD sold their paint as well - good to know. Thanks.
And thanks for the props on the paint job. I was actually looking for a gray bike to go with the Tramp theme but this deal was too good to pass up and the paint sure is nice. I may ask around and see what it would cost to have the a/c cover done to match.

not knowing what paint was used makes it a bit trickier , but a good painter should be able to find or mix something that will work
flames as well ? you're going to need a really good painter for that , not only do the colors need to be right , but the style has to match
i think the result could be great though ...
I broke down, scuffed it up with some emery cloth and shot it with the Rustoleum this afternoon. So far it looks pretty good. It's a bit "blacker" than the HD wrinkle paint, which looks almost like it has silver metalflake in it next to the Rustoleum. The a/c cover's texture is also more smooth than the HD.
I'll let it dry good a couple of days then put it on and shoot some pics. If I like the general look I'll take rounder's tip and get some HD paint from the dealer.
