You know how this goes...My buddy and I are leaving tomorrow morning for a trip through Missouri. I go out to get the bike ready...check tires and fluids, etc. and sure enough, the rear tire is flat. There is a nail in there. So my question is...can I get it plugged and be on my merry way, or is a trip to the HD Dealer for a new tire. (The tires have 4600 miles on them.)
Your butt and anyone riding with you is relying on the integrity of that tire. A sudden malfunction could be hazardous. At a minimum I would take it by your dealer or a reputable shop and get some opinions.
At the verry least, I'd take it to a good tire shop and have them patch it. If your dealer can do it, fine, but I wouldn't plug it. Another possibility would be a tube if they make one for your tire.
End of this thread...Well it turned out to be a $242.41 nail in my tire. What was unusual was that the nail was in the tire HEAD First. Thanks to all for their responses.
