Just thought I'd share my most recent mod, I really like the look of it and makes the left side of the bike really pop! I wanted head bolt covers but the ones that I had seen were pretty small (well, not as big as the axles spikes). I mocked up the axle covers over the head bolts and it looked badass. However, because the axle covers sat off center to the head bolt, they didnt mount right (I thought of using longer set screws but they didnt work). I fabbed up 4x 1 inch diameter by 1/2 high adapters with an aluminum rod, drilled an off center 1 inch hole (imagine a yolk sitting in the bottom of a round egg) drilled and tapped for set screws the mounted up the spikes.
There probably was an easier way, but I got a great new tap and die set from my father for christmas, and I wanted to put it to some use. Pics say it all. Lemme know what you think.
Thanks guys, I think this will be it for appearance mods for a while, and the (3rd or 4th) end of my previously on-going winter mods, haha.
The spikes are from hammer custom cycle, he seems to be the only guy who sells spikes of this style, chromed. He's also great with customer service. I know he also sells a regular set of smaller spike head bolt covers that dont need the adapters that I made.
