Anyone running road king shocks on a dyna just saw a post in the sporty section alot of guys talking about using them.
Can someone post up a pic of the chrome ones on a dyna. Iam assuming that the RK shocks in chrome or black will bolt right up on a dyna or sporty and if so i have an 07 dyna so what do you look for 07 RK shocks this sounds like good idea for me as me and wife ride alot and we are not small people not huge but not 100 lbs each either.
I have '09 Ultra shocks (not chrome). If they're the same design yes they bolt right up no problem. Won't bother posting a pic since you want to see the chrome ones.
id still be interested in seeing the black as it may be an option and thanks for the info. How do you like the ride you get with them compared to the oem shocks.
You can see the black Road King shocks in my signature. I have just sent them off to phoenix customs to get them dropped 1". They can reworks the springs for your desired weight including passenger. They did bolt right up for me. They seem to ride just fine for me I just don't like the look they raise the rear of the bike to.

Ride is nice, but in my opinion not the best for aggressive riding. If you want comfort for cruising, not a bad choice at all. If you want to do 100mph through the twisties, forget it. It's not bad 1-up, but 2-up I get the feeling that the *** end is washing out on me. Makes my *** pucker pretty good!
don't look bad at all now the two of you that have pics posted those are stock so what about the chrome lowering shocks for RK i see would they still give as good as ride and like Ken stated probably put the bike at the same height as the oem dyna shocks as one set i saw listed on ebay said they were 12inch eye to eye. What are the standard RK shocks like ken and you have eye to eye.
just read what was under your pic and i do alot of twisty riding and like to go fast in them maybe not my best option. not sure yet. What i have OEM is fine for me but if me and the wife ride just feel i could get a better ride and honestly don't want to spend the $500 plus on progressives and other shocks right now.
The standard height is 12.75" the lowered are 12". The drop shocks will be 1/4" shorter than my stock dyna shocks. For my riding style I don't want to go lower than that. I spent a fair amount of time researching the drop shocks on various forums and by calling Ron at Phoenix customs. The work he does seems to improve the performance over the stock or the moco's lowered shocks.
I won't be able to verify this until I get the shocks back and have some better weather. I got my RK shocks for free from my neighbor so it is worth my while to try these out.
I also don't know if he would rework chrome shocks.
I recently installed a set off progressive 440's that are spect'ed for a Road King. They are the 13 inchers. They are the only shocks I have tried that could support the constant two up weight with all the gear we run. Our combined weight is 450 lbs plus when we are loaded down. I really like how adjustable the 440's are AND how easy they are to adjust. You can lower them down if all you ever do is solo riding or crank them up for heavy two up. The thing I like best about them is if you crank them all the way up for two up riding, the bikes still rideable when your solo. Unlike all the other shocks I tried, which once they were cranked all the way up for proper two up riding, became ridgid struts if I went solo. The 440's for the Road Kings don't seem to do that. I ran the 12 inch air shocks for a while. They could NOT handle the heavy two up riding we did. Bottomed out all the time on my Dyna . Great solo, but no good two up. My sig pic is of the bike with the 12 inch air shocks. Easy to see that with a passanger, you'd be way too low.

Fantastic idea. I like the longer shocks for additional lean angle available. If you are trying to ride a big Harley cruiser, particularly a rubber mounted non-stabilized Dyna into big lean angles at over 60 mph speeds, stock, the bike is gonna pucker your ***. But the extra length shocks are nearly perfect for getting additional lean angle for lower speed tight twisties as at the lower speeds on reasonably smooth surfaces, not enough forces are generated to mess much with the goofy engine-swingarm alignment problems suffered at higher speeds. Raising the bike WILL alter rake and trail....thus handling qualities...but in a positive way for lesser speed turn radiuses.
