My positive is on the positive terminal on my battery. The negative end of the pigtail is bolted to a ground bolt under my seat (the same place the ground wire from the battery is).

I noticed you and thedon, both have that bannana style connection on your battery tenders, did you wire a bannana connector on the end yourself or did you purchase yours with that as an option, because mine has two prong typical trailer type connector, one male and one female.

Man, I was originally looking for some insight to just trying to cram my tender plug by the battery, but now, I gotta think about this, you all got some sweeeeet, clean, practical ideas there. I think I'm gonna have to have a couple beers and sleep on it, so many good options to choose from, hmmmmm.
Thanks amigos, nice looking work

That is friggin clean looking there, I do dig that but I'm out to lunch on a possible gps mount up there for the future possibilites, and I gotta feeling that might interefere with it there. I could be wrong though.

I ran cables to this directly to the battery through a 7.5A fuse.

It is NOT a cig lighter plug. They sell many adapters, this is the one for battery tender:

I connect this adapter to the Battery Tender cable when I want to put a charge on the battery. I have other adapters if I want to clamp on my GPS etc... I also carry in my bag an adapter to a female cig lighter plug for emergencies on the road where I might need to use a +12V plug like that for something.

These Powerlet plugs make a nice tight secure connection and they are very well made.

The link I posted shows the connectors I used (photo above). I already had the Battery Tender wiring when I bought the bike, I marked the wires from the battery positive & negative, then I cut off the the Battery Tender connector, slipped on some shrink sleeving, soldered the wires on to the male side of the black connector, slipped the sleeving over it and shrank it.

I then drilled a hole between the two terminals on the black connector and mounted it to my coil cover.

On the red connector I matched the positive & negative positions from the Battery Tender to same as the black connector, removed the set screws inside the connector and used longer Allen headed screws with Loc-Tite, slipped the wire into the holes of the connector and cranked down the screws.

Red connector plugs into the black connector.

It seems to not be weatherproof. Is that an issue?

So... if you got it out there on the coil cover, do you have issues in the rain or anything?

Like, it gets wet enough to short out and mess up your battery? My guess is no, because you have it like that and it's working. ... just seems you shouldn't have electrical connections exposed to the elements. The tender pigtail has that little cap connected to it so it's covered when not in use.
