Windshields / Fairings, not much for FXDF
Looking at used Road King fairings HD and Hogzilla on the Internet and pretty sure I could adapt one to fit. Will definitely need to do some cutting for the dual headlamps, probably some more for handlebars and turn signals.
Haven't figured out mounting but thinking I could fabricate some brackets etc.
Metal work, no problem, fiberglass .... might be biting off more than I can chew.
Anyone ever modify one of these fairings? Any advice and what do you all think about how a fairing might look on a Fat Bob?
Thanks
t
Also, someone recently posted a pic of a windscreen mounted extra low on the fork tubes and that didn't look half bad.
Nice bike by the way....

Then I thought some of the quarter fairings looked pretty good. You know I'd have to put up with the whole SOA thing, but it's all about what you like right. Anyway, obvious dilemma, no one makes anything like that for the FB, so no matter which one I picked there would be some kind of fabricaiton, metal work and probably fiberglass. I could change headlamps, but I definitely want detachable.
So I opened up the search parameters and started seeing all sorts of new stuff, Shoei fairings, one even had a square cutout big enough for the dual headlamps. But, ... talk about probably looking cheesey. Even the OL, who doesn't give one crap about bikes, said WTF.
After more noodeling, I started finding Batwing fairings on the Internet, and really think I can adapt one to fit and make detachable.
I did look at the Road Glide fairings but they mount to the frame and are stationary verses mounting to the fork. Again, just not my thing.
Well, I had to ask, and so far, looks like most are saying "don't do it".
So, thanks for the honest opinions. Still not sure where I'm going with this but if I pull the trigger on anything will definitely share and get your input.
Thanks,
t
Can't remember where I saw this link, but check it out. Says upcoming support for several models, including the FXDF.

Way to expensive for me, as I don't even want a stereo system, but I thought of asking them for a quote on just the shell.

Thanks, yeah, saw that one already too and agree, toooooooo expensive.
Check out ebay, search "Harley Front Fairing", can't remember if I used the plural "Fairings" or not. I'll try to post a link if you can't find them but there is one company advertising brand new OEM fairing shells, older like 70s vintage for $89.00 each, yeah, $89, not $890. No idea if they're remanufacturing or have a stash somewhere. Several individuals are selling shells for $75 to $130, obvious damage and mostly no windshields, but repairable.
