I think that guy that had the tanks go bad has other issues. I bet he'll be replacing his second tank in xxx miles if he doesn't get things sorted out...

Side note: There's no way the tank lift can affect miles per gallon OR miles per tank. Gas gauge accuracy can be affected however, I have the Kury LED gauge setup and it allows you to calibrate the settings so you can dial it in as close as you want. NO problems with either to date.

Fatbob. you are correct for the most part, I think Baeseman was referring to miles between fill ups, which could be affected, depending on where the fuel pickup is in the tank and the angle change of the tank, it may not be able to scavenge fuel the same as before.
Shouldn't make much difference, but it is a possibility.

my theory (however f-d up that may be) is that you get more usable miles per tank with the front lifted because the pick-up is towards the rear of the tank, and the fuel is more towards the rear when it starts getting low . But with the float for the fuel gage being forward, your gage shows being empty sooner. Not that I use the gage anyway but that little low fuel light bugs the sheet out of me so when i hit ~ 145 miles on the odometer I just stop and fuel up.

With any mod, the law of averages shows that eventually something can go wrong. Just as life. If I were to do it over again, I'd do the 2" lift. The 3" is just a lil too much.

yeah, I have a 2 inch lift on mine and I love it. I think the 3 inch lift is too high at least for my taste.

I have had the 2" Jackyl kit on my bike for the last year. The only issue i have is that when i turn the wheel all the way to the right or the left....i mean by the slimmest of margins....the triple tree pinch bolt rubs the tank. I've heard i can redrill the mounting flange on the rear of the tank....just haven't gotten around to it. For now, I simply dont turn the wheel completely when its parked.

I have the 2" Jackyl kit ...Man I love the look and the guys I ride with like it too. I lost 2/10 of a gallon when I did the upgrade. I had to "recalibrate" my gas sender when I did it. But cleaning the cover are so much easier

I noticed this morning that my clutch cable was getting pinched when the bars were turned all the way to the left. Like when parked. I took a couple of stay straps and tied the cc back out of the way- My son just took his camera to costa rica with him for spring break so I cant take pictures but thought I would bring it up in case you might want to look at y'alls.

Go back up to post #9...and click the little paper-looking thing next to Jackyl's name. You'll have the option of sending him a private message (pm). Also, if you want a tank lift, they are available from Jackyl on ebay.
