Default Andrews 30T on 06 dyna

I have been reading alot about this lately and it seems like a great mod. I know there are other threads about this topic.

I am thinking of getting andrews 30T power pully part number 290306 for my 06 superglide.

Will I notice a big difference in performance? Will I still be happy cruising 80 mph on the interstate all day? Will my 1/4 mile time be noticably better?

I have aprox. 7/8-1" adjustment left on my secondary belt. Do I need a new one? If not, should I get a new one anyway while doing this and if so what belt should I get?

The only other performance mods on the bike are stage 1 and pcIII. It is an 06 superglide with 34,000 miles

Most of the people that have done that mod say it's one of the best they've done.

Not sure what your stock gear ratios are, but you will see about a 10% difference in RPM in high gear, so 80 should not be a problem with a 6 speed.
As for your belt, since you have to open it all the way up to get to the pulley, if you have more than 25k on the current belt, why not change it now while you have easy access?

You will like the 30t. Change the belt 2 or 3 links smaller I thin will do. I did not change mine and have very little room for adjustment. You can cruise at 100 mph, no problem. New 30 tooth you will love around town, that is where I notice the most differance.

The '06 is kind of the 'goldilocks' for the final drive ratios ... between the '05-earlier and the '07 and later ....

Obviously gearing down the '06 will give you stump pulling torque in 1st gear ... you'll be able to drop the clutch in idle and not kill the motor ....

Gearing down the '07 just gets them to the '06 final drive ratios ... you'll effectively lose the overdrive benefit of 6th gear ....

I think there's a 31T pulley (not sure if it's made to work with '06 model year though) ... for comparison, 32T is stock, 31T will gear it down by 3% and 30T will gear it down by 7% ....

Just a couple of thoughts I don't know if you'd considered ....

My 6th was useless before I put in the 30T.

Paul - your FXDF is post-'06 ... you don't have the same final drive ratios as the OP ....

See mud's post WRT final drive ratios at https://www.hdforums.com/forum/5271462-post48.html

Since '06 has a 70T rear wheel pulley vice 66T on '07 and later, it has different final drive ratio ....

so do you think it would be geared too low for everyday riding with a 30t on an 06 model.

The way it is set up right now, at 70 mph I am switching from 5th to 6th to 5 to 6th and so on. If I bump it up to 75 then 6th feels comfortable.

I am not wanting to gear down jsut to effect 6th gear or anything, mostly I am just looking for a good , cheap performance upgrade that will not limit me anywhere else.

Who has done this on an 06 dyna?
Thanks everyone for the input

If you cruise a lot around 65-75 then this would be a perfect upgrade for you.
