Those were the same pipes I was gonna get, it woulda looked cool on flat black. But they were on back order. Thunderheaders are sick...look sick and you the name, the performance would be cool. Just do it!!!
Ah man, I was kinda mad at Thunderheader too, cuz I ordered those and were gonna come in like in a week. Then I wait and call a week later and they all of a sudden went on back order. Nice huh.....so I went with my initial plan.....Vance Hines Big Radius 06. Cool now. But I kinda wish I had the Thunderheader.
Yeah, i'm pretty excited, but it seems like everything I order has some sort of hiccup and I continue waiting. I was told most stores aren't able to keep a surplus of thunderheaders due to their quick selling. So ultimately it is up to Rich Products to a) make them faster (which could mean cheaper) or b) expand their operations (which would cost them more money) so it may be a lose/lose situation.
Another somewhat maddening thing about the Thunderheader is that you simply can not buy them directly from the company. You have to go through some kind of dealer either on the internet or locally.I went local for this very reason, if something was wrong with it I wouldn't be the one dealing with the hassle of sending it back. Now on the plus side, literally every single mechanic I've talked to recomends the Thunderheader over any other system even the one at the dealership which doesn't sell Thunderheader runs one on his own bike and claims it will get you the most power. When three different independant shops and the Mech at the HD dealer are telling me the same thing I'm guessing they're probably right.
Special, let me know when you get it and what route you take as far as engine management is concerned. I'm thinking for myself to go PCIII and then have a local harley guy tune it. Keep me posted
I assume you run a thunderheader then? How do you like it? Any sound clips to send me? Mine should be here in the next week or two and I'm pretty excited. You know what they say about the thunderheader, looks like *** and hauls ***. That works for me.
i think you'll be pleased with your purchase. i hardly ever see other hd's with thunderheaders. most hd people i talk to say the thunderheader is one of the best sounding and best pipes made for the hd. the sound is really deep and i love it.
