I sold my '95 Roadking and bought a 2006 Dyna Superglide. I don't regret it for one minute. Like you, I found I was mostly making solo day trips. I got very tired of the heavy FL wallowing around, I love the way my Dyna handles.
I do miss the hard bags and am still working on a good way to haul stuff on the Dyna. But that is part of the fun of getting a new bike.
