First tools I bought were a inch and a foot pound torque wrenches, a set of hex and torx bits and oil filter wrench. Also a sears jack. I have a Fatbob and it takes 4.5 quarts for all 3 holes.

First "tool" you need to buy, is the service manual.

ft/lb torque wrench, good set of hex, torx and socket set. Replacement o-rings for the drain plugs (p/n 17369-06 for the gasket service kit.. 1k, 5k, 10k).

I also use an automotive oil filter wrench (after I drop the voltage regulator off the downtubes... makes getting to the filter and cleaning up afterwards much easier. Use a 1liter bottle cut in half at an angle, to catch the oil from your filter... and your filter as well.

2.5qts in your engine (w/filter change), 1qt in your tranny and 1qt in your primary. Same oil in all three holes not a good idea.... my opinion. Synthetic 20/50 in the engine, synthetic 75/140 in the tranny, good dino 20/50 in the primary... again, my opinion on using friction modifiers (synthetic oil) on the clutch, not a good idea.

I have a 2007 FXDC. First thing you need to do is to buy the Service Manual and the Parts Catalog. The Service Manual tells you how to do things and the Parts Catalog shows you all the parts and what they look like and part numbers and enables you to buy the correct parts the first time. Theo other guys above have got it right in regards to the tools.
