Default Tire Questions

Approaching 7K miles on my 2006 SG and the rear Dunlop is going to need replacing soon, real soon. A couple of questions:

I'm leaning towards not replacing the front tire now as it still has lots of tread left. I've heard conflicting thoughts about this and wanted to get your opinions.

What's the going rate for a tire change? I'm thinking of taking the wheel off and lugging it in rather than waiting around to have the installer remove/re-install it.

Any thoughts regarding Dunlop, Michelin, other brands? My main criteria is milleage as I'm in SoCal and I need not rub it in regarding the weather and the usual riding conditions.

Thank you!
